The Racing-Edge ratings were originally developed over the course of 2003 / 2004 and used in our own daily betting activity, before the Racing-Edge.co.uk site came about in April 2005.

The ratings are compiled by allocating a score and a weighting to a number of different factors that we believe most affect the horses chances of winning. After a further series of calculations, a manual element is then applied to create the final two ratings that you see on the site. The original concept has always been to keep the ratings as simple as possible and not include an abundance of extra information that would serve to confuse rather than help.

The Racing-Edge site was started in April 2005, in order to share the ratings with other horse racing enthusiasts and provide ratings that simplified the assessment of each horse's chances of winning a race. Originally the site only assessed flat racing, but as the popularity of the ratings grew, we developed a similar set of ratings for National Hunt racing. These were delivered in October 2005 and have proved to be as equally popular and effective.

The site is now a subscription site and is used daily by both serious punters and bookmakers, however it also remains available free (in part) to the casual punter.

Good luck to you all.
